For 55 years, Vermeer Midwest has grown alongside the people and industries that keep the Midwest moving. From one location in Eureka, Illinois, to 14 locations across four states, the Vermeer Midwest story has been shaped by growth, hard work and a commitment to taking care of the customer.
1971 • WHERE IT BEGAN
Junior and Beverly Kool moved from Pella, IA to Eureka, IL in 1971. There they established Vermeer of Central Illinois. Junior’s connection to Vermeer began in 1957 when he started working with Vermeer Corporation. That experience helped shape a dealership built on dependable equipment, strong relationships and customer service.
1976–1991 • GROWING BEYOND CENTRAL ILLINOIS
Growth came quickly. Junior Kool acquired Vermeer of Missouri in 1977. That expansion marked the beginning of Vermeer Midwest. The company added its Aurora, IL location in 1986 and acquired Vermeer of Indiana in 1991. These milestones transformed one dealership into a growing regional network.
1998–2002 • BUILDING THE MIDWEST FOOTPRINT
Vermeer Midwest continued expanding across the region. The East Moline, IL location was built in 1998. A new facility opened in Newburgh, IN in 2001. Vermeer of Michigan joined the company in 2002. By the early 2000s, Vermeer Midwest had established a strong presence across the Midwest.
2007–2011 • INVESTING FOR GROWTH
Vermeer Midwest continued investing in facilities that could better support its customers. The Marne, MI location was built in 2007. Chesterfield, MO opened a new shop in 2009. The Eureka, IL operation later moved to Goodfield, IL for greater visibility and more room to grow.
2014–2022 • EXPANDING CUSTOMER SUPPORT
Recent growth focused on improving access and strengthening regional support. The Fowlerville, MI location opened in 2014. East Moline, IL moved into a new facility in 2021. The Mancelona, MI shop opened in 2022 after customer demand increased throughout northern Michigan. These additions brought Vermeer Midwest’s parts, service and sales teams closer to the customers they serve.
2023–2024 • GETTING CLOSER TO THE CUSTOMER
Vermeer Midwest continued expanding to meet growing customer demand. Bloomington, IN opened in 2023 to support central and southern Indiana. Charleston, IL followed in 2024 to better serve eastern Illinois. Both locations reflect the company’s focus on providing faster and more accessible support to the people doing the work.
2026 • THE NEXT CHAPTER
Vermeer Midwest opened its newest location in Plainwell, MI in 2026. The opening marked another milestone in a story that began with one dealership in 1971. The new facility expands sales, parts, service and equipment support throughout southwest Michigan. It also brings the company’s footprint to 14 locations across four states.

Every new location has represented more than growth. Each one has helped Vermeer Midwest build stronger relationships, respond faster and support more customers. After 55 years, the foundation is stronger than ever with the addition of four third generation Kool family members who will continue to lead the business by the principals instilled by their grandpa, Junior Kool.
