For TEL-U Tech, directional drilling is more than just putting pipe in the ground. It’s about helping bring reliable fiber optic infrastructure to communities across the Midwest.
Working in a variety of ground conditions ranging from sandy soil to heavy clay, their crews rely on dependable equipment to keep projects moving. Their Vermeer fleet includes D10x15s, D20x22s, and a D23x30, giving them the versatility to handle a wide range of fiber installation projects.
Joey, a Field Supervisor with TEL-U Tech for the past six years, understands firsthand how important reliable equipment and tooling can be in the field.
As TEL-U Tech continued to expand its fiber operations, the team began looking for ways to improve efficiency on the jobsite. After using the QuickFire HD system, the crew recently transitioned to the Ultra X3. The change was immediately noticeable. “The first impression from the crew was all positive,” Joey said.
One feature that quickly stood out was the simple two-pin design, allowing crews to make changes quickly and get back to drilling. “The Ultra X3 makes it quicker and easier. You pop off two pins and replace them.”
When crews spend everyday drilling through varying soil conditions, durability becomes just as important as productivity. According to Joey, the laser-clad construction has helped the Ultra X3 stand up to the demanding conditions TEL-U Tech encounters on a regular basis. “The laser cladding holds up better. It’s an all-around better piece.”
The combination of easier maintenance and improved durability has helped TEL-U Tech continue doing what they do best: deliver quality fiber installations efficiently and safely.
A Trusted Partnership
While performance in the field is important, Joey believes strong dealer support is just as valuable. “Dealer support is very important if anything breaks.”
TEL-U Tech has built a strong relationship with the Vermeer Midwest team over the years, relying on the sales, parts, and service departments to help keep equipment running and projects on schedule. As TEL-U Tech continues expanding fiber infrastructure throughout the region, they know they have a partner they can count on every step of the way.
TEL-U Tech relies on Vermeer directional drilling equipment and the Ultra X3 drilling system to efficiently install fiber optic infrastructure throughout the Midwest. With durable tooling and trusted dealer support from Vermeer Midwest, their team helps keep broadband projects moving forward.
